Sometimes those folding tables just sit (well, stand) too low for comfort, when you are dyeing, ecoprinting, or when you are setting up a market stall. Within minutes of working on a regular hight table, I develop nasty lower back pain that is very hard to get rid of. So I bought bed risers, but they’re bulky, awkward to store, and they were pretty pricey for what they are
A simple and affordable way to give them a boost is with DIY PVC pipe extensions. This method is surprisingly sturdy and lets you customize the height to your exact needs.
.PVC pipe is lightweight, inexpensive, and easy to cut to size. Heck, we already have tons of them for our bundles anyway, right?
Here’s how it works: first, measure how much height you’d like to add to your table. Then pick up some PVC pipe, about 1.25 inches in diameter usually fits most folding table legs. Cut the pipe to your desired length and smooth out the edges with some sanding paper, so they won’t scratch anything..

To finish it off, pop an end cap (available in any hardware store) on each piece for a neat look and extra stability. When you’re ready, just slide the extensions onto the legs of your table. The pipes will rest on the leg’s bend, and the capped ends will keep everything snug and secure.

Now that I know this trick, I am not storing those bulky bed risers again!
The best part? You don’t need specialty tools or supplies. PVC pipes and end caps are easy to find at most hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowe’s, or Ace Hardware, and you can even order them online through Amazon if you’d rather not make a trip. With just a few dollars and a little DIY effort, you can give your folding table a whole new level, literally.
Safety tip: before loading up your table, test it gently on a flat surface to make sure the extensions are snug and stable. A quick check goes a long way in keeping your setup safe and wobble-free.
