Care & Preparation Instructions for Cotton Thread

Before Mordanting and Dyeing: Scouring (Essential for Cotton)

Cotton naturally contains waxes, oils, and spinning residues that block dye absorption. A thorough scour makes all the difference.

  1. Fill a pot with warm water and add pH-neutral soap (or a tiny pinch of soda ash for deeper cleansing).

  2. Submerge the skeins and let them soak for 30–40 minutes.

  3. Rinse until water runs clear.

  4. Gently press out excess water — do not wring, to maintain the twist.

This step ensures the cotton takes the dye evenly and deeply.

Antes del teñido: Desengrasado

Para asegurar que el lino absorba el color de manera uniforme, recomendamos un desengrase suave antes de aplicar el mordiente.

  1. Llena una olla con agua tibia y añade una pequeña cantidad dejabón suave y de pH neutro(o una pizca mínima de carbonato de sodio para fibras muy procesadas).

  3. Enjuague hasta que el agua salga clara.
  4. No retuerzas; aprieta suavemente el agua para evitar estirar el hilo.

Antes del teñido: Mordentado

Para tintes vegetales, el lino da mejores resultados con un mordiente simple de alumbre.

  1. Prepare un baño de alumbre en20–25% WOF(peso de la fibra).
  2. Disuelva completamente el alumbre en agua caliente antes de añadirlo a la olla.
  3. Añada las madejas pre-lavadas, húmedas y caliéntelas suavemente—no más caliente que 80°C—durante aproximadamente1 hour.
  4. Dejar enfriar en el baño para una mejor absorción.
  5. Enjuague ligeramente o proceda directamente al teñido.

El lino, como todas las fibras celulósicas, se beneficia de un mordiente cálido y lento para abrir las fibras y favorecer un color rico y uniforme.

Después del teñido: instrucciones de cuidado

  • Lavar a mano suavemente en agua fría.
  • Utilice únicamente jabón suave y de pH neutro.
  • Evite la lejía, los blanqueadores o los detergentes agresivos.
  • Exprimir el agua con suavidad; no retorcer.
  • Secar en posición horizontal, lejos de la luz solar directa.
