Description
Antique Handwoven Linen – by the meter
This rare linen was handwoven by farmers in the east of the Netherlands around 1900, making each roll over a century old. Woven from locally grown flax, it is a coarse, authentic farmers’ cloth, full of rustic charm. The natural colour varies from sandy beige to linen grey, and no two rolls are alike. Still wrapped in the traditional folded-and-rolled style called dookrol, this fabric carries the history of rural European weaving into the present.
With its handspun yarns and irregular weave, this cloth has a living texture that can’t be replicated by modern machines. It takes natural dyes and botanical prints beautifully, making it ideal for projects where character and authenticity matter.
