Description
Handwoven Eri Silk Fabric – Natural Cream
A beautiful, softly textured handwoven Eri silk in its natural creamy shade.
This is an exceptionally tactile fabric: soft and comfortable, with the subtle texture and gentle irregularity that make handwoven textiles so distinctive. The warm, undyed color is beautiful on its own and also provides a versatile natural base for botanical printing, natural dyeing, embroidery and textile work.
Eri silk has a quieter character than glossy, finely woven silk. Its surface is softly matte, with a natural richness that allows dyed colors and botanical prints to feel deep and grounded rather than overly bright or shiny. Unlike Bombyx mori, the domesticated mulberry silkworm, the Eri silkmoth (Samia ricini) produces an open-ended cocoon that can be spun rather than reeled, giving Eri silk its characteristic soft, slightly textured appearance.
Available in a very limited quantity, this is an exclusive fabric for special textile projects, garments, scarves, panels and naturally dyed work.
