A specialist woad preparation for a different reduction process.

This woad is intended for a reduction process that differs from the method used with our standard woad extract. Its darker colour, textured consistency and strong botanical aroma are characteristics of this particular preparation.

In the vat, it produces the soft, nuanced blues associated with woad. It is an excellent material for dyers interested in exploring different reduction methods, working with larger vats and building colour through repeated dipping and oxidation.

Working with this woad

This product must be reduced in an alkaline vat before the blue pigment can bond with the fibre. Use approximately 5–10 grams per litre as a starting point and adjust according to your chosen reduction method and desired depth of colour.

Multiple dips, with complete oxidation between each dip, gradually build deeper shades. Results will vary according to the reduction process, vat condition, fibre, concentration and number of dips.
