This unbleached, sand-washed silk charmeuse is a softly finished silk with a calm, matte surface and a fluid drape. The sand-washing process reduces the natural sheen of classic charmeuse and gives the fabric a smooth, lightly brushed hand that feels comfortable directly on the skin. Sand washed silk charmeuse is also called Chamois, or Silk Suede to describe the peachy surface feel of the fabric.
Because the silk is left unbleached, it retains its natural warm ivory tone and fiber integrity, without optical brighteners or bleaching residues. At 16 mommi, it offers an excellent balance between lightness and substance: light enough to move beautifully, yet substantial enough for garments with presence and longevity.
This fabric responds very well to natural dyeing. Personally, I do not scour this silk. I use it straight as it is, and find that it takes color evenly and predictably while maintaining its softness and drape.

Hand wash gently in cool water with a mild silk detergent, or dry clean. For naturally dyed pieces, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and wash separately.
