Description
Also known as needle felting needles, dry felting needles; Filznadeln (German), viltnaalden (Dutch), aiguilles à feutrer (French), מחטי לבד (Hebrew).
A set of 3 size L felting needles, 9 cm long, delivered in a plastic vial that keeps the sharp tips safe in transit and between projects. A great choice for beginners and first projects, and handy spares for your toolbox.
What are felting needles used for?
Each needle has 9 barbs, three per side, with staggered spacing. The barbs catch the wool fibers and lock them together each time the needle moves in and out. No water or soap is needed, which is why the technique is also called dry felting. Use your needles to:
- Sculpt small figures, flowers and ornaments from loose wool
- Add shapes, lines and patterns to wool fabric, shawls and scarves
- Felt your own naturally dyed wool yarn and fibers into a design
- Mend moth holes and worn spots in wool garments
Goes well with
- Merino Wool Etamine Fabric and Kashmiri Wool Fabric, as a base for felted designs
- Merino Wool Shawl and Wool Silk Scarf, to dye and then embellish
- Wool / Nylon Mini Skeins, for felting lines and details onto wool
- Our natural dyes and mordants, to color your wool in the exact shades you want
