Description
Indigofera longeracemosa is a lesser-known species of indigo but is considered a superior source of indigotin. A woody herb that can grow up to 2 meters tall with slender red-brown stems, it is still cultivated on a small scale in villages in Indonesia and Madagascar.
Our indigo comes from a small family-run farm in Indonesia where it is organically grown without pesticides and processed through traditional alkaline extraction. Available as pure indigo powder or in a kit that includes indigo liquid, a reducer, and an alkali with step-by-step instructions.
Fun fact: in traditional medicine, the root of Indigofera longeracemosa has been used as an antidote for snake poison.
Active dye components: indigotin, indirubin
CI Natural Blue 1

- Multiple dips: build depth from pale blue to deep navy
