Natural Dyes

Colors born from nature

Natural dyes straight from the earth, made from plants, roots, and barks, without synthetic additives. I have collected the most common but also the rarest dyes to make them available for a wider audience.

Our curated collections include everything you need for rich, long-lasting color:

  • Indigo & Blues for accessible, beginner-friendly dyeing
  • Reds & Pinks for accessible, beginner-friendly dyeing
  • Yellows & Oranges for accessible, beginner-friendly dyeing
  • Greens for accessible, beginner-friendly dyeing
  • Browns & Tans for accessible, beginner-friendly dyeing
  • Blacks & Greys for accessible, beginner-friendly dyeing

Whether you're starting out or refining your palette, there's a natural solution here for you.

Step 2 Shop Your Natural Dyes

Step 3 Shop Your Mordants & Assists

Essential partners in dyeing

Natural dyes don't work alone, they need a little help to bond with the fabric and stay vibrant over time. That's where mordants and assists come in.

Mordants like alum or iron prepare the fiber to take on color, while assists (like chalk, tannins, or cream of tartar) help shift shades, adjust pH, or improve fastness.

This section includes the basics I use in my own practice, tried and tested, and as low-impact as possible.

Rooted in Color

Join me for immersive natural dyeing workshops in Mexico, The Netherlands and France, where we explore botanical printing, natural dyeing, mordants, fibers, and the rich traditions behind plant-based color.

These sessions are practical, generous, and deeply material-focused, designed for both beginners and experienced makers who want to understand not only how natural dyeing works, but why it works.

Upcoming locations include San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, Amersfoort and Franeker in the Netherlands, and the South of France.
