Description
Himalayan Rhubarb (Rheum emodi) in a concentrated extract form, from the roots of a plant long valued in Ayurvedic medicine. It is a substantive dye, easily soluble in water, and attaches permanently to textiles without the need for mordants. Rhubarb is especially loved on cellulose fibers, but works beautifully across fiber types.
Did you know? In traditional Himalayan craft, rhubarb root was used not only for its golden tones but also as a base mordant. It remains a versatile tool for eco printers and is an excellent first layer before indigo or other natural dyes.
Active dye compounds: Emodin (anthraquinone), chrysophanol, oxalic acids, tannins.
