Diny Warren I love the looks and feel of the Matka Silk, have not used it yet. Waiting for the snow to leave and leaves to grow on the trees. Plan to use it for eco-dyeing projects.

Matka silk is a natural, matte, lightly textured silk fabric, celebrated for its earthy elegance and unique character. Spun from Bombyx mori cocoons and handwoven by skilled artisans in India, this fabric carries the spirit of traditional craftsmanship. Each meter tells the story of weaving communities that preserve centuries-old techniques and cultural heritage.
Did you know? Unlike smooth mulberry silk, matka retains more sericin (the natural silk gum), which allows it to take dyes with exceptional richness. That’s why colors on matka silk appear especially saturated and vibrant after dyeing.
Fiber origin: Organic, non-violent Bombyx mori (Ahimsa silk).
Matka’s sericin content makes it highly receptive to deep, saturated colors.
Works beautifully with natural dyes, eco printing, and botanical contact prints.
