Woven from cruelty-free Bombyx mori silk (peace silk, or silk noil), these scarves have a beautifully lightly slubbed structure and a soft, warming drape. The weave is airy, made on a two-shaft loom, which gives it more looseness and flow than a denser four-shaft weave. Finished with hand-twisted fringes, each scarf feels both rustic and refined.
The fabric is an oatmeal-coloured, unbleached silk, handwoven in a rehabilitation centre in India that supports physically challenged artisans. Beyond producing beautiful textiles, the centre provides education, training, and dignified work, enabling individuals to support their families.
Did you know? Scarves are often finished with a silk starch to give them a crisp look for storage and transport. A gentle soak overnight in water with bran (about four spoons per bucket) will dissolve the starch and reveal the fabric’s true softness. No scouring required.
Carrying the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization) Label, these scarves go beyond beauty: each purchase directly supports artisans, strengthens small communities, and helps battle poverty and inequality through the guaranteed Fair Trade economy.
